Tell our premiers to stand up to Coke's lobbying against recycling

Goal: 75,000

Coke is running a smear campaign to try and defeat a common-sense recycling scheme in Australia.

The idea behind "Cash for Containers" is simple: buy a beverage, return the container, and get a 10 cent refund. It's worked in South Australia for decades, where recycling rates are the highest in the country. But Coke is working around the clock to defeat the scheme -- even suing the Northern Territory when it started a Cash for Containers program.

State Premiers are deciding right now whether to join forces and stand up to Coke, but they need our support. It's time we spoke up against Coke's war on recycling.

Sign the petition to Australia's Premiers, and tell them to stand up to Coke and implement a Cash For Containers recycling scheme.

There's huge amounts of evidence that Cash for Containers works, and it makes sense. South Australia's scheme has seen it reach the highest recycling rates in the country, and European countries and US states have had similar schemes for decades. But Coke doesn't want the scheme, worried it will cost the company a few dollars from its bottom line -- and it's trying to bully our Premiers into line.

But with our support, the Premiers can stand up to Coke's intimidation. Victoria's Premier Napthine is already looking at implementing a scheme, and NSW Premier O'Farrell may join him. We just need to show them overwhelming public support for a common-sense recycling scheme.

Let's join together and call on the Premiers to implement a common-sense, Cash For Containers recycling scheme.
