David Cameron & Nick Clegg: Ban G4S and Atos from government contracts for not paying their fair share of taxes.

Two of the UK’s biggest government contractors, G4S and Atos healthcare, paid zero corporation tax in the past year. David Cameron and Nick Clegg promised to companies found to be avoiding their taxes from bidding for contracts. But as yet, not a single company has been barred.

The Coalition parties are starting to gear up for the general election in 18 months time. They need to prove to us -- the voters, that they’ve delivered on their promises. If we launch a big people-powered petition demanding the government bans G4S and Atos from future work then it won’t be able to quietly forget about its commitments.

Tell David Cameron and Nick Clegg to stop awarding contracts to Atos and G4S.

As if tax avoidance wasn’t enough to ban these companies from future contracts, these two contractors are already involved in some pretty appalling practices. G4S is currently under investigation for fraud on one of its contracts. Its staff were recently revealed to be forging documents to deport failed asylum seekers. While still more of its employees have been alleged to sexually abuse some detainees at an immigration centre.

Atos Healthcare is no better. Atos gets paid by how many people it kicks off disability benefit and has cut benefits from people with heart machines, Iraq war veterans with severe injuries and a host of other shocking cases. If there ever were two companies to no longer receive our money it’s them.

Our movement has now grown to over 300,000 people in the UK. We now have more members than the Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats combined. This gives us enormous power to act together and force the government to live up to its promises. The government should live up to its promises and if they try to wriggle out of them, we stand ready to force them to act.

Can you stand up for British taxpayers and demand the government ban Atos and G4S from future contracts?
