To the institutions of the European Union and its member states:

Text of the ECI:

Stop the negotiations with the USA on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and do not ratify the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada."

Goal: 3,300,000

UPDATE: October 6th 2015 marked the end of the self-organised European citizens' initiative (ECI) — one year after the start of what has become the largest ECI ever. In October, we delivered more than 3,263,900 signatures against TTIP and CETA to the European Commission.

Even though the self-organised ECI has come to an end, our campaign to stop TTIP and CETA will live on -- as the European Initiative against TTIP and CETA. Will you help us grow even more?

Europe and North America are currently negotiating two trade deals that could turn out to be the biggest corporate power grabs in history -- TTIP and CETA. If passed, TTIP will jeopardise vital environmental and health regulations and threaten working standards in Europe, allowing corporations to sue governments behind closed doors.

The big losers of the deals: ordinary people, like you and me.

Hundreds of corporate lobbyists and government officials thought it would be easy to push these massive trade deals through. But we weren't taking the biggest corporate power grabs in history laying down.

We teamed up with hundreds of organisations all across the European Union to form a self-organised, EU-wide citizens' initiative 'Stop TTIP'. With over 3 million signatures, we have become the largest European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) ever.

The European Citizens' Initiative against TTIP and CETA says:

"We call on the institutions of the European Union and its member states to stop the negotiations with the USA on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and not to ratify the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada.

We want to prevent TTIP and CETA because they include several critical issues such as investor-state dispute settlement and rules on regulatory cooperation that pose a threat to democracy and the rule of law. We want to prevent lowering of standards concerning employment, social, environmental, privacy and consumers and the deregulation of public services (such as water) and cultural assets from being deregulated in non-transparent negotiations. The ECI supports an alternative trade and investment policy in the EU."
