Tell US Airways to ensure its staff are properly trained on how to handle service animals.

Goal: 50,000

In a shocking display of disrespect, US Airways booted a blind man and his service dog from a plane this week -- and then cancelled the whole flight when other passengers objected. Now, the airline is refusing to apologize.

After a long delay on the tarmac, Albert Rizzi's service dog was restless and cramped. But flight attendants demanded that the dog be forced under other passengers' seats -- in contravention of the airline's own policy. When Mr. Rizzi complained, they kicked him off the plane, and cancelled the whole flight when his fellow passengers stood by him.

Tell US Airways to apologize now, and ensure all flight attendants are properly trained on how to handle service animals.

US Airways is standing by the decisions of its crew, even though the flight crew violated US Airways' own policy. According to US Airways policy, a service dog can be on the floor in front of your seat, but US Airways wanted to force the large dog under the seats of other passengers. The company will only say that it is "sorry for theinconvenience" caused, but won't apologize for the disrespect with which Mr. Rizzi and other passengers were treated.

This isn't the first time US Airways has been in a row over a service animal. Two months ago, US Airways booted off a veteran after he complained of its treatment of his service animal. It's vital that US Airways crews learn proper respect for those with disabilities and the animals they need in their lives. Please sign today.
